John Ventosa

MICHAEL S. POLLOK has been practicing criminal defense law in New York’s local, state and federal courts since 1994. Before moving to the Hudson Valley in 2004, Michael practiced criminal law in Manhattan with the law firm of Hoffman & Pollok, LLP and has acted as counsel to several law firms including Kantor, Davidoff, Mandelker, Twomey, Gallanty & Kokhba, P.C., Allegaert Berger & Vogel, LLP and Marvin and Marvin, PLLC. Prior to that, Michael was an associate with Barrett Gravante Carpinello & Stern, LLP which later merged with Boies Schiller Flexner, LLP.

Over the years, Michael has acquired highly specialized knowledge in the areas of state and federal white collar fraud, healthcare and Medicaid/Medicare fraud, homicide and vehicular homicide, assault, sex offenses, drug cases, driving while intoxicated (DWI), driving while under the influence (DUI), Driving while ability impaired (DWAI) and teaches continuing legal education classes to other lawyers on these subjects. Michael earned his J.D. from the St. John’s University School of Law, his M.A. from Bard College, and his B.A. from George Washington University.

He is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Courts of Appeal for the 1st and 2nd Circuits, U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Southern and Northern Districts of New York and the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut..

DAVID STEINBERG (Of Counsel) has been honored as a judge and lawyer with numerous awards for his excellence in a legal career spanning over 40 years. He has argued many criminal and civil appeals in the state’s appellate courts, including the New York Court of Appeals.

A former Dutchess County Chief Assistant Public Defender and chief appeals attorney handling felony appeals, David was a founding member in the Poughkeepsie law firm of Steiman & Steinberg, and has most recently served as principal court attorney for Hon. Lawrence H. Ecker in Westchester and Orange County Supreme Courts where the entire spectrum of civil cases are adjudicated including personal injury and matrimonial cases.

David is married with two children and one granddaughter.

JOHN J. VENTOSA at just 30 years old, is a founding partner at McCabe Martin Pollok Coleman & Ventosa, PLLC. Prior to joining the firm as a partner, John served his community as a Senior Assistant Public Defender in the Dutchess County Public Defender’s office, where he represented individuals charged with everything from simple violations to violent felonies and developed a reputation for aggressive, unrelenting representation of his clients’ interests and a keen knowledge of the law.

John has partnered up with some of the most well-respected and experienced attorneys in the Hudson Valley and will continue to serve his community by bringing that same aggressive and skilled representation to the private sector. In addition to serving Dutchess County as a Senior Assistant Public Defender and now as a founding partner at McCabe Martin Pollok Coleman & Ventosa, PLLC, John also is an acting board member of People, Inc. – a non-profit organization devoted to helping and improving the lives of the psychiatrically labeled within our community. He has been on the board since early 2015 and his contribution of personal and professional experience to the organization has been instrumental in sustaining its rapid growth over the last several years.

John earned his BA from New York University and his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law. He is a member of the Dutchess County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association and National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
